Why do boat dealers close early on Saturdays?

Seems that’d be the best day to be open all day? Especially the sales department. Just always wanted to know.

Most shoppers probably are not going to impulse purchase a boat so it won’t be done in a day anyway. The typical boat isn’t a drive it off the lot thing like a car. All the rigging options, electronics, take some thought and planning. Then there is the time it takes to rig it. Boat dealers don’t have in house finance departments and banks aren’t open on the weekends. This means all the bidness has to be done during the regular work week. So it’s highly unlikely that it can be done in a day. Plus, just like you, everybody likes a couple days off

So they can fish

very few people show up on Saturdays, especially during the summer. I had to work summer Saturdays at a local dealership I used to work at. It was always painfully slow. we had a rotational schedule between me and the other techs, some one would always quit before the 4th, and i would have to work that weekend. Now that I’m in business for myself, i get calls all day Saturday(night and into Sunday.
