Decided to skip the troll and do a bottom trip. We pushed off the docks at 6 and arrived at the grouper hole at 8:30. We couldn?t find the grouper but we were catching some vermillion and then the AJ?s show up in force and proceeded to destroy several vermilions in the processes of being reeled into the boat. So after moving around a bit the grouper bite came on. We got a huge one in the boat as well as several others. We landed too many amberjacks to count. They wore us out. We then went in search of other bottom dwellers after the grouper bite cooled off. There we packed in some BSB more vermilion and other fishes. The ocean was awesome today. There were storms everywhere but lucky for us we were just not where they were. All and all it was a great day of fishing with some success on the bottom. Looking forward to going again!
Some asked from my last report to include some pics of the boat so I threw in a couple here.
I didn’t weigh it but I would guess close to 30 pounds. It took a good heave to get it on the cleaning table. 14 grouper filets came out of that fish alone.
Yep I thought it was odd to get a ring tail out that far. Thanks for the catch on the date I guess I was tired lol.
It was pretty heavy. Biggest we have ever caught. Thought it was a scamp. That would be a bummer if we missed a shot at a record. Oh well I will savor every bite.
