My fishing partner and I took our wives out fishing Saturday morning on the Stono. Left Ripley Marina at 6 am, picked up friend and his wife at lighthouse bridge and we were fishing by 7. Found a school blowing up mullet and we were able to put my wife on two over slot reds and a under slot flounder. Needless to say, she’s hooked! I missed a few reds on topwater, and had one break me off on an oyster bar after hooking up on a swimbait. The bugs were terrible but thankfully we had thermacell’s and no-natz.
After we got done fishing, dropped our friends back off at lighthouse and then ran over to shem creek to pick up other group of friends. Headed up to north end of Caper’s for the afternoon to relax on the sandbar, and then drop everybody back off at Shem Creek. Glad it was just the wife and I for our evening cruise back across the harbor to Ripley, it sure was choppy in our 22’ bay boat!
We saw the Huk Freeman boat hauling a$$ on it’s way in from offshore, man it must be nice to not feel a single wave!
