Wifes 1st Blue Marlin (video added)

Wife and I headed out of Stono Inlet at 6am hoping to find a good weed line, rip, etc. Ran out to 900’, found nothing but scattered weeds. Started trolling in the scattered weeds. Nothing for a 1 hour. Picked up and headed SW. More scattered weeds at 400’.Picked up 2 slingers quick. We decided to increase our spread from 2 lines to 3 lines. Started trolling over some numbers I have. Trolled for about 30 minutes and line gets hit. She grabs the reel and nothing, I put the reel in free spool for a second and tighten the drag and Baam! It takes off and almost spools the tld 30. The fight was on. Got it close to the boat after 1 hour and it tail walked 4 times. 2 sharks were trailing. After a solid 2 hours of fight, never sitting the rod down, she finally gets the Blue Marlin to the boat. We made a good release. It was a great experience.

Real nice work. You were only trolling 3 lines. .? Looks like the Blue Marlin is the new YFT.

Thats awesome. Congrats.

Nice job. Seem to be almost as many billfish as mahi around this season.

You and your wife are on a roll! Love your whip, if I could afford one that’s what i would have too
