Last week (5-11-12) I had setup a Fishing trip but couldn’t get anyone to come with. As I told the Wifey I was going to go solo, she said, “Hey, I’ll go…” Well, I said “Ok”
Got to my honey hole, and within 5 minutes of soaking a bait, first rod starts screaming. I did nothing but make the wife grab the rod, and reel in a nice fat 31" redfish. She did great and really enjoyed that every time the fish came close to the boat he would peel line again and take off! I forgot the BOGA grip so she had to hold it against her body. LOL. Sorry guys, not posting the Bikini Pics…
I made her cover up just for the photo
Made sure Mr. Redfish was good to go, and let it swim away nicely. Put out another bait and bam, rod starts screaming, but of course hook pulled from my knot. (I need a better knot). Lost another after that, and hit a new spot because another fisherman decided to anchor up right where I was casting as he saw my wife reeling in her fish. I mentioned to him I was casting there, and he was on top of my bait and he didn’t care. I picked up and moved.
Tried 3 more spots after picking up some more fresh bait, lost a few more. Went to lunch at California Dreaming, and headed off to work. Great day with the wifey and I think she’s hooked now.
Shrimp and Mullet are everywhere!
Water was GROSS! Brown and Murkey and Trashey (right after the storm last Thursday 5-10-12
Try a uni knot. Also if you’re using large diameter mono/flouro leaders with small diameter wire hooks, the hook can cut the leader if your drag is buttoned down.
What kind of boat do you have? How long is it, and do you like it pretty well? I’m looking to buy my first boat and was hoping to get your ■■■■■■■■. Thanks in advance.

I personally do not own a boat. I use my brother’s boat (not the one in this picture). His boat is a 17’ Boston Whaler Montauk. 1981 I believe, with a 1991 60hp Johnson.
On this particular day, I have a very generous friend who lets me use his 22’ Scout, which Im in love with. It’s good for the wifey, as the Whaler is not a comfy boat. When Im fishing hard, i take the Whaler, when Im crusin, Ill take the Scout.
Try the Boats and Motors section for opinions. Honestly, anything that runs, and floats, Ill use it, and make it work. Myself and a buddy, put 4 very large men in a 15’ Aluminum John Boat with a 25hp engine, and caught fish all day long…
Sorry Capt. Give me and her a free ride and trip fishing and Ill make sure there is no cover up

Hell…I took Black Bart for free so I can surely take your wife, not sure about you…just kidding, please no feed back fromt he Romper Room. It appears you have the catching part of fishing pretty well covered. You are certainly the smartest guy on CF…your choice of boats without actually owning one.
