I love braid, but I always seem to get a crap load of wind knots with braid. Does anybody have a brand or style of braid that reduces wind knots or some secret for preventing wind knots in braid or any type of line on spinning reels?
I have always tried to put line on the right way where no twisting happens, but I always end up having problems with my spinning gear.
Thanks!
I use power pro and I dont have problems
All I have ever used is power pro. baitcasters…no problem. spinning reels, always an issue for me anyway. Got any ideas to prevent?
I find that if my braid is not wound firmly on the spool, I will get wind knots. This happens if you reel with no resistance. If you have a lure dragging through the water, that is enough resistance, but if you reel with no resistance you will get a birdnest when you cast. Just pass the line through your fingers while reeling to get it on the reel tight. This works for me anyway.

I run PowerPro and have found that if you wet your line a little prior to the first cast, you will have fewer wind knots. I just pour a little water out of my bottle on the spool and cast away. Repeat if you have a long run between spots and the line dries out.

The biggest problem I’ve had is that a loop will get thrown over the drag knob when the bail flips over when you start your retrieve. Next cast pulls the loop off prematurely and make a rat nest. I actually modified the drag knob on one reel the make it less susceptible. The real cure has been to pay attention to it each cast. I now rarely let the bail flip automatically but instead flip it by hand. Turning the drag knob a 1/4 turn one direction or the other can help too.
10 or 14# Fireline is my favorite for spinning rods. It’s a little firmer than round braid and knots much less.
I agree Palmetto Bug, I ALWAYS flip the bail by hand; otherwise I get a tangle or too much line off the spool, etc…
