Windlass controls

My windlass and wiring were fried when I got the boat. I installed a new windlass, wiring, breaker and switch at the helm.

I also purchased the matching lewmar remote (the one that has a coiled cord and deck connector) for about $100. I figure it might be useful to have a remote up front while pulling the anchor. I would probably just stow it in the anchor locker. I’ve already run the triplex wire, just in case I went with that.

For an additional $100 I could trade in the remote and get the wireless remote control. I figure it’s more likely to get lost or damaged, but it would be a cleaner installation.

After using the windlass initially, I’m not really sure I’m going to need either one.

For those of you with plus-sized anchors, which one would you prefer and why?

I HAVE ALWAYS JUST USED THE SWITCH ON THE DASH
