really nothing special by way of results but a nice day on the water.
hit water early hoping to chunk zara spooks. too windy to work it properly. move to lee bank, throw it more. nothing.
change tactics, throw grubs. slow but steady trout action, nearly all of which were small. we got a handful of trout 14-16" and another 15 that were <14"
during the trout hunt, we located 2 different schools of small spottails who readily ate zman paddletails on 1/4 oz jigheads. we caught a bunch of these. they bit almost every cast once we found em. most were rats, a few were slot fish. none were over slot.
got 1 undersize flounder
the bass were <2’. most trout were 3-6’ deep.
in my rookie opinion, this month if you’re not getting bites-MOVE.
last few weeks, they’re readily eating artificials, but I’ve had to keep moving to find willing fish.
if a reliable dock or point doesn’t get a bite within a few minutes and decent casting coverage, move.
they either aren’t there or they’re not active. I could probably soak bait and maybe wait em out if that spot has been a fall producer before. But there are enough active fish so I don’t have to wait on these.
the lowcountry is beautiful, yes?
moonset over ARB
peeked into a few flood pools hoping to see a tail. no dice.
invited some of these home to the fryer.
cold & windy early, but nice by mid morning.
hopefully Penny will re-post about packing backup clothes and where to find bargain winter fishn clothes.
