windy friday

i fished horlbeck creek by kayak today from 11:00-2:00. was limited to one side of the bank offering some protection from the wind. i tried the far side but was abused by the wind and had no control. i was able to troll a significant length of the bank with grubs, both paddletail and curly tail and finished with 1 red and about 20 trout. they were not schooled very tightly. i kept a pair of 16 incers for tonight’s dinner. colors were a tequila sunrise looking bass assassin, white with pink tail and smokey with metal flake. none were better than the other.

at the lowest tide i kept spooking some large fish in the shallows over a muddy bottom but couldn’t identify them. i casted to one i saw tailing but due to the speed the wind was blowing me i only had 2 good casts and got no response.

typical for me this fall it was nice all week when i couldn’t get out and the weather turning just in time for the weekend.

still good to get out. mike

i was playing with google earth a saw that palmetto islands county park’s fishing dock was close to some promising water. the problem was a long walk carrying a 15 foot kayak and another long walk carrying milk crate + rods and other toys.

I went out today also I did not catch but a small trout
I think I dont know how to fish for them but I did learned this things today

any tips on kayak fishing in this kind of weather

I learned 3 hard lessons today about kayaking

  1. if you go on the big river make sure that you dont paddle against the tide and wind blowing at(15+ mph)
  2. dont try to set the hook and change your $300 prescription glasses
leaning to one side (glasses went down the water) it was a stingray
  3. to not lie to myself thinking that I was going to find the glasses when the tide went down

It was a hard day (but a good adventure) thats what makes it exiting
