After a leave from redfishing i go a lil twitch going. Decided to catch up with a friend I stood up a couple months ago and ask for redemption. Art was happy to go fishing and we decided to chase tailers with the hippie stick even though it was gonna be windy. Now between the two of us our casting prowess is about that of a third grader but we went anyways.
Began to stalk some flats and came across two fish tailin happy but they were in some thick sh*t. Not marsh grass but the stuff on the banks were marsh hens hide. Couple casts and no takes. We moved on to the very, very back of the flat and spotted one.
20 mph winds and my limited ability I gave it a shot. Damned if I didnt make a great cast and fish on. After a few minutes Art grabbed him and I had my second tailer ever.
Back to the boat for a beer and to wait for the tide to turn. Headed back out and saw 4 fish goin at the crabs in the back of the flat. This area of the flat was wide open to the wind. If there hadnt been any wind we prolly would have got some good shots. But we just couldnt make it happen. Still a fun day stalking around the flats with a good friend and some good beer.
Well done. Next weekends tids should be off the hook for them.
Chris.
I went Sunday and the wind was bad. Saw two tailers and three cruisers, two of which I spooked when I just about walked up on them. Had one shot at a tailer and layed it out two feet in front of him. He never spooked, just slowly went down and I never saw him again. I might try to get out there today…High is at noon today. Perfect for a lunchtime walk!
