Hello everyone, I have never fished the wrecks in the winter time. Do they hold fish like triggers,snappers,spades and sheep heads. Planning on coming down week after Christmas if the WIND permits.
New to this site as well. Please take it easy.
Winter bottom fishing is awesome when the wind lets you get out there.

Winter fishing is very good. The species you catch will depend mostly on how deep you are but many do come in more shallow as the water cools.

For a start, you can get all the artificial reef numbers from DNR’s website. Capers, Charleston 60 aren’t too far (15-18 miles) out and can be good some days. Live bait if you can get it. If you don’t catch good fish at the first structure, move to another and watch your sonar for stuff not listed. If you are comfortable going out farther, the y-73 can produce good numbers of vermillion snapper at times, along with other stuff. Just use heavy enough gear to handle a 50 lb reef donkey. Lots of them at the 73.

We do our best bottom fishing during the winter. Not very many people around here are willing to take on the weather, so the fish get a lot less pressure.

Still planning week after Christmas, week before hunting at Botany Bay on a draw hunt if Hurricane Matthew left anything there.
Is there anything to troll for offshore. Will probably be leaving out of IOP.
