Hey, the reds are starting to school up and I’m looking at the bait (mostly finger mullet) and thinking of flies to tie. Anbody got a favorite fly for this time of year? Pics?

As the water cools & clears I like small, (size 1 or 2) sparse clousers in black, olive/white, or brown. Very little or no flash. Works real well for me. If you are casting to schools, it generally does not matter- get the fly in there and hold on…
haha ya right now reds seem to be eating pretty good not as sluggish

I tied up an orange and chartruese monstrosity I call the Smoldering Cat ( instead of Fire Tiger) threw it out in front of one and he swan over it, I popped it out from under him, fully expecting him to spook, and he did a 180 and engulfed it… sadly I pulled the trigger too quick and high sticked him and pulled the fly but I would use EP baitfish type patterns and light crab patterns and have a bunch of colors. I tossed a nice dark olive M4 at one and he didn;t even give it a look but the orange did the trick… ya never know…
