winter ice tip

Many may already do this but thought i would share what I have been doing. The night before fishing i have been putting about 5gal of water in my cooler along with a full solo cup of pellet salt. I have a 150qt cooler so amount of water is up to you. I like about 2" of water in there.

Leave the cooler lid open all night. In the morning a good “slushy” should have formed without freezing solid. I then drop a couple frozen blocks in there and the slush should get a little thicker.

The cooler stays super cold all day without having to pay 3-4$ per bag of melting ice…

This time of the year I can keep ice in my cooler for many trips! I can remember years ago I took ice from my pond and kept it for over a month in the cooler of my boat.
