Winterize your boat

Pump the water out of you raw water washdown. The filter housing on a shurflo pump system is made of plastic and can/will freeze and crack.

It ain’t no mystery…this beer’s history!

when you know its gonna freeze, just trim it down

if you live in tidal creek is there any problem with putting black trash bags around the foot to keep the mud out while it is trimmed down during cold weather? Big Bonzo had this exact thing happen last time it got real cold…

if that is an issue, just get a jug of environmentally friendly anti-freeze and pour some in the gear case housing, and don’t worry about it.

IF I RESPOND IN ALL CAPS, ITS NOT ON PURPOSE, AND I AM NOT YELLING

I had a problem with the pump freezing for my fresh water wash down. I pumped out all the water but a small amount drained back down to the pump after I turned it off. Froze and busted and was a real PITA to replace. The next winter I went about looking for some “non-toxic” antifreeze to pour in the tank. I was told to pump out the water then pour in the antifreeze and pump a little more to get the stuff into the pump.

Well I didn’t like the idea of pouring antifreeze into the tank That I use to wash my skin with. I knew that booze would not freeze. The cheapest booze I could find was a brand of vodka called “military Special”. If I remember correctly it $7.50 for a 1.75 liter bottle. I used it just like it was antifreeze and it worked just fine. Use it for antifreeze just DON’T try to drink that stuff! Just before I emptied the bottle I tried a swig. I am not sure if I spit it out or threw it up.

that is great idea, but I am not sure you could convince Bonzo to part with booze like that.
