got a new 82 lb. 60" motor guide (24 volts) for the 17’ seahunt. The boat has a plug at the bow. I bought a male adapter to go on the TM wires to plug into it and the adapter I bought has 8 guage wire (for 24 volt system). The wire in the boat that runs from the plug to the console appears smaller, maybe 10 guage or so. Should I replace this wire with 8 gauge wire? Also, any opinions on what batteries I should get? Are the $70 Walmart (Everstart?) deep cycle batteries good enough?
do yourself a favor, and do not purchase neverstart batteries

10 gauge and 24volts should be fine

I’m not sure about the Charleston area, but I went to the Interstate Battery store off of Shop Rd. here in Columbia and bought a brand new “blemished” deep cycle battery for my little boat. I only paid $43.00(with my old core). The battery I got retails for about $90.00. I haven’t found the blemish yet.

I know they are not as great as some of the high dollar batteries but, I have a 3 year old Wal-mart Everstart that runs my trolling motor and one that starts my boat. Never had a problem with either one. Just for the record, I am a Wally World hater so I am not plugging the mart.
