Woody Wax

I have seen this on many websites. Does anyone use it? Does it work? My boat interior is that splattered, non-skid type finish and I have never really been sure how to clean and care for it. It seems a little pricey but if it works it is probably worth it.

it is the absolute best! recomended by the guys that built my skiff. it is incredibly easy to use and works like a charm. it takes very little, so you will have the bottle forever also

Try Fluid Film. Same stuff 1/4 of the price.

Works well and easy to apply. A good quality paste wax like Tre-wax is always going to be best for large areas that can be easily applied and buffed. However, for non skid, gunnels, and other places that are a pain to wax, woody’s is a god send. I usually put on a coat every 8-10 trips.

so is this what you would use on a non skid surface on the deck?

I was turned onto Woody Wax by Hairball and love it. I use it on the non-skid areas with great results. The bottle will last forever. I use it every 6th outing or so or after cleaning a stain off of the deck with softscrub.

Sounds like the way to go. Never heard of Fluid Film, where do you get that one?

You can get Fluid Film at Charleston Rigging on Meeting Street. I heard about it on THT…

You can use it (along with Woody Wax) on pretty much anything, battery terminals, engine block, non-skid, etc.

have any of you guys seen a problem with woody wax staining vinyl cushions? Have the top of one of my cushions turning a weird brownish red color and the only thing i can think of its from excess woody wax i was putting on the aluminum ttop.

no,but spray on sunscreens have stained my leaning post.it will disappear after a week or two…

spray on sunscreen is banned from my boat…

spray sunscreen drifting into a bait tank is certain death for the bait. not welcome on my boat, either.

spray bug repellent is bad stuff too.
especially on stuff like gps screens :frowning:

thanks for the response, so there is nothing really that i can do to get it off there but wait it out?

The red stain is actually coming through the vinal. Its becasue you have mildue and mold growing in the seat cushion. Had the some problem. If you can unzip the cushions spray the insides down with bleach and that should fix the problem.
