Wore the Croakers out yesterday

Probably caught 20 of these. It isn’t always about fishing the grillage for 30 pounders. Girls could bait their hooks, cast out, hook fish, and reel them in all by themselves. They wanted no part of getting them off the hook though. Maybe next year is what the older one said.

That is what it is all about, getting the kids “hooked”. Mine caught a Ladyfish last week and could not have been happier.

Nice job. I take a 7 yr. old out occasionally and it is fun to watch her catch fish.

The excitement they get from a Croaker is amazing, Don’t have any kids of my own but seeing other families enjoying themselves is always a good day. On a side note I would say to those with kids that you should get them used to wearing a lifejacket at the earliest age possible. The only whining that ever comes out of the little ones is usually life jacket related.

I second the life jacket suggestion. The only problem I’ve ever had with children on the boat is them not wanting to wear the life jacket. All my grands know to go they wear the jacket. It was a niece that wasn’t familiar with boats that didn’t like the life jacket. I took a friend and his three year old son last summer and to prevent the problem I sent the friend home with one of my small life jackets and asked him to let his son try it on and wear it around the house before we went. The 3 year old had a ball and never complained once about the life jacket.if you have a newbie it also helps if other children , that know the life jacket isn’t optional, are on the boat too so newbie can see other children with them on and having fun.

It’s really great to see the posts about kids fishing with their parent(s)!
