The wind was out of the NE at about a bazillion MPH and the sky was cloudy and looked like rain. As most of us fisherman know, those conditions are a sure bet of a slow to nonexistent bite. The guides know it too and still they have to go and try to make there client happy by finding a comfortable place to catch fish. This is why I don’t guide. If I planned on a trip and the weather was like this I would stay home and clean my rods if you know what I mean. Went out in these conditions with Ugly Duckling guide service and was pleasantly surprised with the trip. Yes it was windy and the wind held the tide out and the water was churned up and muddy but we caught some fish and had a pleasant trip despite all the negatives. Saw a few other hard core fisherman and a few porpoises. The fish were few and far between but Capt. Steve did an excellent job in the conditions he had to work with and it was enjoyable day. Can’t wait to get some decent weather and try it again.
I hear you about the wind. After I got off the water yesterday someone made a comment that “I shouldn’t fall asleep with my sunglasses on”. I had to tell him that I was wind blasted. In retrospect, I probably should have put a good coating of SPF 50 on.
