Wife found a small live worm in a flounder filet. i told her to take it off and cook it, but she gave me the look. anyway, i havn’t ever seen one and was wondering if it’s normal.

I’d probably agree with your wife. I’ve seen too many episodes of “Eaten alive”. BTW, after last year I don’t know if it’s tougher to be a Clemson fan. Such high hopes. At least you don’t have to deal with high hopes at Carolina.

Only once can i remember finding a worm in flounder.Trying to remember but i think this flounder was wounded and healed over.
Anyway think somehow entered thru wound.I dont think near as common as some other fish.This worm was 3 or 4 inches long like a small piece of wire,black about the diameter of a paper clip.
I have seen these worms in the crabs,flounder,red fish on the fresh water side of the ashley river…I could never figure it out,but never fish that side anymore…
This year , I’m finding a lot of worms inside the trout row which I love to eat. They are black and look like a mass inside but if you puncture the row, they squeeze right out. Once the mass comes out, it will separate into many worms that are very long and smaller than a pencil lead in diameter. I haven’t pointed them out to the wife as I don’t want the look. Anyone else notice this?

I believe I would have looked for more sign of infestation. If none cook it a little longer. Find out just what kind of worm it is to see how dangerous it is.

I found some worms in my red grouper that I caught. I was told no big deal but cant eat it because its a mental thing knowing it was there.

Do you eat corn from the garden? Have you written off tomatoes? Does the idea of potential worms / parasites make you cringe? Meats, fish, vegetables, and fruits, should be off of you all’s list.
