I have been shrimping since the early 90’s. I don’t proclaim to be the best at it but I have always enjoyed it. This season for me has been the absoulute worst. Last year was not much better. Sure hope it gets better next year - $100/per lb shrimp are hard to choke down.
Can’t you still shrimp, but with no bait?

If you’re getting skunked with bait what would make you think it would be better without bait?

You said it brother. I never even came down to shrimp after seeing so many poor reports. I’ll be making a trip down in the next week to buy mine. Oh well, there’s always next year.
I broke a record this year 6 multi-day trips down from Columbia. Total of 15 days at Bull’s or harbor. Total take this year… about half a cooler combined. Enjoyed the heck out of it though.

It was tough. We got 3/4 one night only to get 3 quarts the next. However, I do it for fun and we really enjoyed the time on the water and the beautiful South Carolina scenery. BTW, bought 70 pounds today…
We ended the season with a couple coolers out of Rockville, a few 1/4, 1/2, and one 3/4 coolers and many cover the bottom if your lucky nights all in all it was a lot of fun and met some good people. I will admit it’s more fun when your catching than it is pulling up empty wet nets, but both make for good conversation and good times. I’m waiting on next year for the shrimp, now to find out how to catch more fish.

We shrimped the harbor a handful of times and got nothing. Shrimped out of rockville 5 times; cooler, cooler, 2/3 cooler; 1/3 cooler, covered the bottom (barely).
worst one for us too, at least my misery has plenty of company.
JI, yes you can keep a cooler without bait through dec 15, at which point it reverts to 12 dozen per person or boat till may 1.
Cool, thanks. I didn’t get skunked this year and I didn’t use bait at all. I don’t use a boat though, I just go from a dock. Between last year and this year though, I got more jumbos last year than this year.
