Ive been a member of this site for almost three yrs. have been off shore fishing for 15 yrs. but up until 3yrs ago always fished as a paying customer. In o6 I gained access to a boat capable of going off shore and so began my learning experience on all the skills needed to have some degree of safe and succesful fishing off shore. The reason I say all this is to thank you guys and this site for all the info I have been able to gain and teach my self off shore fishing I know I still have a life time of learning ahead but I’m getting better. all that said here is the report I have been waiting to post for 3yrs. Left chas marina 5am with x brother in law he and my sister divorced but we didn’t. and another fishing buddy. got within 2 miles of the 226 and started seeing the water temp going down so we put lines in the water at 7:45 we were getting peanuts about every 15 min so we started trolling back towards the ledge with 4. all less than 15lbs @ 280 ft about 11:00 it went off. three rods down. got all in the boat 20 to thirty lbs. the rest of the day till 4 we worked about a 1 mile sq area and had the most fun and excitement I’ve ever had on the water several triple hook ups most of them boated.Lost at least ten some on botched gaffs some on tackle that was to worn out but to busy getting bait in the water to change. two daymakers one was when we reeled four lines to get a big bull to the boat before we could bring in the 5th it waas hit buy another bull as we were gaffing the first one we noticed he had a buddy hanging behind in the prop wash. I picked up a rod we had reeled in put it in in free spool and chunked it at mama and it landed right on top of her just managed to get the lever drag pushed up as she exploded on it 15 yds from the boat it was a great show. brought her in 5 min later as one of the bulls boated managed to get out of one of the fish boxes that was over loaded and was beating hell out of my legs. second day maker was the first wahoo I’ve ever caught ring in @ 35lbs. only issues we had was the

Local Boy, Just having fun.
Great report, I see you are a king lover, still interested in king fishing after that bluewater experience? I’m a nearshore king fisherman, who needs a ride occasionally; I’m semi-retired, with over 20 years fishing for kings only…

If you get through the crap this site is VERY helpful and their are some VERY good people that post and are willing to go out of their way to help you out. Find a system that works for you and use it but always keep your eyes open on what the other guys are doing. You may not agree 100% but you will always pick up bits of and pieces of info to make your spread better. Keep fishing the the charters occasionally to. These guys are pros and make this look like it is not a big deal. Pay attention to the high level of detail they use when rigging, gaffing, and driving.
Glad you had a great day, good read! Keep posting!!
I will not get into a battle of wits with a man who is completely unarmed!

Yeah, excellent read. I can’t wait for another season or two to pass for me to be able to post the same type of report. This kind of post makes me think that one day, I’ll be doing this too. Great report.

He can do it no problem, I do it in my smaller 20’ boat. Just pick your days. I know, practice what you preach. I went Thursday in the slop…When I probably should have stayed on the hill…[:0]![]()
