Would an air cooled motor be okay for the Charleston area in the summer?

I know air cooled motors are prone to overheating. Would an air cooled motor be alright in the summer-time even with the extreme heat? Also what are the pros and cons of an air cooled motor vs a water cooled motor?

It’s just that water cooled motors are so expensive compared to air cooled motors.

Also sorry I don’t understand boats and engines very well.

Which air cooled motors are you considering?

I was thinking about a 15 hp crappy one off Amazon. I am very limited on cash.

Wasting your money, actually throwing good money after bad.

Air cooled engines only go up to 20hp or so. With a boat load of ice and bait and water tanks and…you get the picture.

Keep your eye on craigslist for something you can afford, and look outside Charleston.

You’ll find better deals on used boats in the upstate, like around lake Murray maybe.

To do what I think you are talking about an old tri hull inboard might be all you need to get going.

Best of luck, but don’t chinch out early, you’ll pay later.

My 2 cents

I see, thank you!
