I would wade in to cast my line out a little further, but no, I would not swim there.

I snorkeled off of Maui right by one of those signs, kind of hoping to see a shark.
During that snorkel, I stayed very shallow, passing from one reef to another only 2 feet deep or so at the most. I heard my wife screaming at me and frantically motioned to me from shore, I freaked out and swam in super fast. When I got on shore, stumbling with my snorkel/flippers in as much of a sprint as I could come up with, she asked me did I see the sea turtle in the surf with me… I huffed a scared-to-death, “no, I missed it, thought you saw a shark.”
I realize now it was all completely stupid.

Heck yea, I’d jump in a heartbeat. Sharks live everywhere out there, if you are scared of sharks, you probably shouldn’t go swimming outside a pool.
Warning, sharks may be present anywhere you swim in salt water

I wouldn’t hesitate, swam with a few sharks around here, what difference does it make if those are a little hungrier
I snorkeled around the bridge pilings of the Bahia Honda Bridge in the Keys before I found out there was a massive hammerhead that lived there that ate tarpon.
Finding that out, will give you the willies.

Any time you get in the big water, you become part of the food chain…not the top spot either.
Umm, you gonna eat that?

just remember it’s not only salt water bulls go into fresh water too. Just be aware you’re in their domain. respect them and you should be fine.

I’m sure they will take into account the fact that we respect them

Good one Cracker! You could let them know that you have some Sharks as friends and some live just down the creek from you:smiley:
Reminds me if a sign I saw last year when my son and his family rented a condo for a week off the Ashley near the airport. Alligator warning. My grandsons, 8 and 10, directed me to a small pond on property and sure enough, there was a small gator. I was unsure which government agency to notify to ensure the safety of the gator and perhaps return the area to swampland. So in the end I just told the kids to stay away and congratulated them for being able to read the sign.
after almost drowning in 2010,i have not been back in any water?
With the number of sharks we have here in SC it would be a bloodbath if these creatures were true man eaters. That being said I am very uncomfortable when in the water at the beach yet i have a much higher comfort level with sharks in open water. My rationale is that they have an opportunity in open water to use all their senses to view and evaluate us.
One such example I was doing a solo dive for flounder on one of our local wrecks. Looked over and had 5 tigers swimming around me. Showed a little aggression and they bailed. Come up the line and see two of them chomping away on a bunch of dead bait on the surface. Me with a bunch of filet mignon on the stringer? Not interested.
Most aggressive sharks species i have dealt with is smaller bulls. Man they will run in on you right up to about 6 inches…
Here are a couple shots of a smaller bull charging and a slightly larger species cruising
