Would you shoot this cobia?

Always remember to unscrew the tip from your gun before shooting a shark in the gill plates, otherwise they will just take your gun and run with it.

I think that the scariest part of this video is that this Great White was SOUTH of us in JUNE of last year.

Capt. Judy Helmy saw one 3 miles off Tybee last week. It was one they had a tracking thing on, I think they said it was the Miss Katherine IIRC. Made the local news.

It’s their ocean :smiley:

Weren’t you the guy complaining about a few jellyfish the other day…Internet tough guy!

Jellyfish = guerilla warfare. Enemy without a face. The hidden menace!

Sheesh - If I would have seen a GW that close (and tracking me) I would only have a few options:

  1. thoroughly clean the inside of my wetsuit if (or when) I make it back to the beach;
  2. look around for my buddy (maybe he/she would be tastier);
  3. back up to that ledge and restrict the GW to only approach me head on (obviously I would need enough air to pull this idea off).

But shoot the Cobia?

That’s a diver who must have an expiration date on their C card . . .

It ain't going to jump in the boat and shoot itself man!!! Sometimes you gotta work for your dinner!

Amazing thing to me was how slow and steady he kept his breathing. Must not have been his first rodeo…

Screw the Cobia…I would have hidden like a school girl at the first sight of that thing. I would have done my assent slowly while I was looking down, in the opposite direction. Im not sure if there is a right answer. Maybe shooting some fish and leaving them there for that beast. So now we have GWS to deal with…?? (**()

Yeah I was thinking maybe hiding in the cracks of that ledge while I soiled my wet suit so bad it couldn’t possibly want to eat me. .

The Warden and I saw a 10+ bull shark at 90 feet off of Pensacola. I tell you…that deco stop at 10 feet was the longest 3 minutes of our lives.

/That bullshark ended up engulfing a spearfisherman’s pillow-case sized mess bag full of speared fish in one gulp. He was a bit more shaken by the experience than we were. :smiley:

now i know why my dive buddy keeps a 44 mag bang tip in his pocket!

She needed a good eye poke at the very least. Smart move to take cover on that ledge.

Would have popped her if the eye poke didn’t work. If she came in hard throw the steel right down her throat. Followed by the the brown octopus ink retreat.
