I do not know the name of them but it looks like a ww2 British brodie helmet, 4’ or so in diameter and made of cast iron. I want to use it as a fire pit. Please let me know if you have any information that might help me track one down or if you have one for sale let me know what you want for it.

Around here the old original ones were used for turpentine pots from pine trees. Hard to find the old ones but there are suppliers, many are cast overseas and shipped here but there are some domestically made ones.
dont want to burst your bubble, but they are $$ and almost everyone selling one knows it. Been watching for one to actually make syrup with, neighbor has been looking for one to make a fire pit out of too- good luck!
The originals around here are worth a few thousand, if you can get anybody who has one to sell it. I have a few neighbors who have them and use them for fire pits, another neighbor who has a few but is still making cane syrup with them.
Agri-Supply has a 90 gallon Carolina-cooker brand for $489. It’s deeper than a syrup cooker though.
I can’t find it right now but last year I found a place that made metal culverts and sold fire pits with outdoor cutouts (deer, turkey, dove) in the metal. I THINK they were in the $100-200 range and pretty sure they were made in SC but either way it might be a place to look.
