I just put an ad on the classifieds for a jon boat, square stern canoe, or Gheenoe-- or something similar. I am looking for something that I can take inshore with me, my son, and one other adult, and motor along with a small outboard that I’ll buy later on. Right now I only “need” the boat.
I am looking for something in the 12-14 foot range (or up to 18 feet if it’s a square stern canoe) that I can either toss in the back of a truck or slide up on top of it.
Doesn’t need to be all the pretty, but I do not want anything that will need extensive repairs. I can patch a small leak or replace a jon boat transom, but nothing with major leaks or large patches of bad fiberglass.
I will eventually be putting a small 4-6hp outboard on it, so it will be registered… and you absolutely MUST have a clear title that is in YOUR name (I will not consider anything with an open title from where you never got it registered in your name). I will not consider anything with an open title or no title. Craigslist is plagued with these and I’ve wasted so much time going to look at boats only to find that the seller never got the title done from when they bought it “years ago”.
I’m only looking to spend $500 or less, so I’m not expecting this to be fancy— just need a normal old boat---- but if you have a boat with a motor and trailer for sale I will consider it.
