looks kind of like some type of Grouper.
looks like a stargazer, but I’ve only seen one and it was 1/10th that size. if it was a stargazer, watch out. they can shock like an electric eel can.

It is a type of stargazer, Southern Stargazer I think. Not something that I’d hold in my hand[:0] All are venomous and some are electric. Be careful with those!

Several years ago I had one about 20-30 pounds at the oyster stake spot It cut the line never found out what it was but the big circles on the back really stood out…never seen one like it before or since. This little thing reminds me of it…At the time i assumed it was some sort of giant flounder…
never will forget those giant white circles on the fish!!!
