I was looking at the cost of the XM weather subscription and was shocked it was $29.99 a month. Is it worth it? Anyone have this and can post their experience?
No question its worth it. I wouldn’t go off without it.
We have it on our computers on the tugs & it’s great when we are offshore.
Sold my boat as my time grew more limited, but I used to go offshore 5-10x or so per year and had it for the summer months only. You can turn it off for 6 months I think. It was really useful. Breaks in surface temps I didn’t find to be so accurate, but they would give you an idea of where they were.
I had two units and would keep one zoomed way out to look for weather further out but headed towards us.
I canceled my subscription 3 years ago and still get mailers to renew almost monthly. SiriusXM is the junk mailing-est company I’ve ever dealt with.

I have it but it works inconsistently. When it works its great. You can turn it off up to six months at a time for no cost. I plan to work on it this winter, do some software upgrades and such and see if it helps.
I use it and love it. It’s saved my bacon a few times. Saw waterspouts and heavy squalls but knew which way they were going so cruised by them about 3/4 mile away. Also useful for water temp breaks. Kept me from getting in a lightning storm down in the Bahamas. Just turn it off when you’re not using it like they said for up to 6 months.
