We went out to the Y73 reef and did okay with a couple of Kings, sharks and my son hooked a huge sucker fish that looked like a cobia till I got close enough to stick it. Never saw any Mahi. Did see the guys in that deck boat anchored up and tearing up the bottom. Saw a Mako 21’ with what was probaly a nice cobia but lost it. Other than that pretty slow. Saw lots of flying fish on the ruff ride in. we’ll get 'em next time…
My buddy went to Y73 yesterday… said they lost a big bull dolphin on the downrigger… they also hooked a sail at Commanche that got off at the back of the boat.
Sails at commanche and its not even July yet!

I call those shark suckers. I’ve caught them from 60’ of water out to 1200’ in every state on the east coast and in the gulf. Every time I think its a cobia until its right at the boat and I see that flat spot on the head.
