Not much of a report here, but a couple of us went out yesterday afternoon on the little Game Day and caught 3 nice dolphin (15-25lbs) and 2 kings (1 30+) in about 2 hours or so of trolling. It was non stop action and pretty sure we missed a sail or two and had too many short strikes/cut offs. Trolled four rods with naked ballyhoo with circle hooks.
just letting you know that action is good near shore right now for anyone who does not feel like going all the way out.
were the dolphin caught in 100’? I am planning on heading out Wed. with my dad and was debating whether to troll or bottom fish.

those dolphins will come to the boat bottom fishing, have a bait ready.Put a drift line out, with a sardine or cigar minnow.Hook one,do the old leave him the water trick till you get another hooked.
depends on the drift. If you got a good breeze blowing with the drift, shouldn’t need any float. If the two are bucking each other, you may need a balloon set up deployed from your riggers.

We hooked a couple in the 12-15lb range last Wednesday in about 85’ just shy of Y-73. One was hooked while randomly casting a 6" rubber paddle-tail bait, and the other hit a bottom rig that I was clearing while the first one was being fought. Also saw a 4-5 schoolie-sized ones come up while we were drifting at Y-73. Short answer is that they are out there inside of 100’, and they don’t seem to be too picky!
