How deep is the water at these locations and what is out there to catch. We went to the Chas40/60 and 4ki and ended up with one bsb that was 13" and had a cobia that was easily over 100 lbs that just kissed my bucktail but wasnt hungry enough to eat it. so I am wanting to head a bit further off this weekend. Since I just started fishing around chas again I want to know if it is worth running out there for anything. Thanks for any advice or info
Congrats on seeing a state record fish and having him come close to your bait. He would have crushed the state record of 92.10. There are a ton of fish at Commanche and Y73. There are also a ton of fish at the locations you were at. I’d suggest saving your fuel money and keep trying and get good at those locations. Then venture off. Buy a maps unique and look at all of the live bottom around Charleston 60.
If you’re not effecting the world around you in a positive manner…you’re taking up too much space.
I used to do a lot of fishing out around the reefs I was at, but do you know the water depth at the y73 and commanche, and I know its hard to believe, but that cobia was a smoker!
About 95 feet.

are there any regulations against bowfishing for cudas and turning them into sharkbait? I don’t remember seeing so many around reef bouys as thick as they were this weekend and they were breaking rigs left and right

last time we went to the commanche we dropped jigs on a trolly car and limited out on 4lb bsb’s, beeliners and had to move to get away from the 15lb ars! all the #s are published, guess which car! archive my posts and jordanonayak! good fishing! Ed.
If it got any better I couldn’t stand it.
Ed isn’t lying. We caught 11 american red snapper off of the cars and had to move to get away from them so that we could catch seabass. I think we all ended up cutting our fingers on their gill plates while trying to vent them. Hopefully they will open it up in a few more years.
