Tomato Pie? I caught some real nice Tomatoes on Saturday and made 2 pies and only used 4 Tomatoes! Gave one, to a golfing friend and his wife! They had never eaten it before and now want the recipe! I’m holding out for strokes!
Thanks for jogging my memory. I haven’t made it in a while, but I have a great recipe for it that was my great-grandmother’s. Absolutely fantastic…
And like you, if someone wants it, it ain’t cheap…

Grew up in a tomato field…so, yes!
Stono Market on Main Rd Johns Island has the best IMO, and just happen to be family. Not to mention probably the best lunch on the islands at the Tomato Shed Café.

Yes! Homemade Crust and fresh Basil are a must. Wife should be out the bed in a couple of minutes, I’m going to request one!! Good stuff! Thanks for reminding me Easy!
“Why Bruce?”
Don’t forget the Vidalia’s! And The Dukes Mayo! We sprinkle oregano between layers, plus the basil! Man, I eat that stuff for breakfast!
Bowhunter, would you share that recipe with me? You can PM it to me, so the rest of the Riffraff on this site don’t eat as well as we do! Sorry guys, but good eating comes at a cost! Bowhunter, isn’t going to charge me, cause I gave him a memory! The rest of you have to pay:imp:

Easy, I am in the middle of a complete kitchen remodel and all my recipes and books are packed up. When I get finished and all my stuff is back in order, I’ll hook you up. Only request is that you keep it to yourself.
At least until you try it…

Bowhunter, I’ll keep it secret!
Go to the Tomato Shed Café (Stono Café) on Main Road, John’s Island and get the Tomato Pie…
I’ve got the recipe from Tomato Shed/Stono Cafe (which is the best place in the low country for lunch).
I’ll get it to you.
Thanks sunbums!

Haven’t had one in years, but got one cooking right now.
Never tried freezing one! They get eaten to fast for that. Bet they would freeze though! One of you guys give it a try and report back to me:smiley:
Would have to make two for any to survive to be frozen.
