Hello everyone, 2 weeks ago I took my boat to the lake and noticed my motor wasn’t peeing, I loaded up and came home . I got it unclogged with a coat hanger and with the muffs it was peeing fine . Today I went back to the lake cranked up and motor wouldn’t pee tried my coat hanger but i couldn’t get it to pee, brought it home hooked up the muffs cranked up ran my wire in once or twice and it started peeing . Does anyone have any ideas why it wouldn’t pee in the Lake . Thanks for the help
You must have a big “pee hole” if you are using a coat hanger. I typically use some flexible seven strand 80 or 120 pound steel leader. You’re able to feed this far further than you could a coathanger since it’s not as rigid. I would be willing to bet that you have some sand/mud/shell that is packed in there and as you get some of it broke it up it starts peeing but then it clogs again until you get more of it broken up. When you are running it on the muffs you are forcing water through the system aiding the water pump providing a higher pressure… If you are relying on the water pump all by itself and sitting at idle in the water then you’re probably not pushing enough water pressure to push past the blockage. I would recommend running it on the months for an extended period of time and using the more flexible wire to work the blockage out. Then take it back to the ramp. If it’s still not peeing then and you have a water pump issue.
I HATE TO DISAGREE WITH CONTENDER, BUT I HAVE TO.
IT IS MUCH EASIER FOR THE MOTOR TO PEE WHEN THE WATERPUMP IS FULLY SUBMERGED IN WATER THAN IT IS TO PULL WATER IN THROUGH THE PICK UP ON EAR MUFFS.
I ASSUME YOU ARE USING EAR MUFFS AND NOT THE SCREW IN FLUSH PORT ON THE SIDE OF THE MOTOR.
DO NOT USE A COAT HANGER TO CLEAR THE PEE HOLE.
YOU COULD EASILY POKE A HOLE IN THE RUBBER HOSES.
IF IT WILL TRULY PEE ON THE EAR MUFFS, IT SHOULD EASILY PEE IN THE WATER, UNLESS THE BACK PRESSURE ON THE EXHAUST IS BLOWING BACK INTO THE COOLING WATER.

IF I RESPOND IN ALL CAPS, ITS NOT ON PURPOSE, AND I AM NOT YELLING
Before you try again on the muffs disconnect the line at the lower cowling and blow out the cowling nipple. I’ve had debris pass through the line but too large for the nipple and get trapped at this connection and that was the only way to clear it out.
If you ain’t hooked, you ain’t doing it right.

grass trimmer string or heavy mono leader works real good for clearing the pee hole
Thanks for the help fellas, I guess it was still clogged , went back to the lake today and everything seems to be fine.
