Yamaha 115F trim spanner wrench

I’d rather buy you a case of beer and borrow your spanner wrench than spend $80 and wait 4 days to get it. I bought a “made in china” spanner wrench and bent it with very little effort. I need a spanner wrench that can handle some serious pull! Anyone out there have one? Preferably one of these beasts! They’re $80 on amazon. I’ll leave you a $80 check or cash for peace of mind.

Pretty easy to make one. Use a piece of flat stock steel (3/16 by 3”?) available at Lowe’s. Cut out a “u”’to go around rod using jig saw or angle grinder… Drill appropriate spaced holes, tap and run machine screws through that match the pin diameter. The ones for hydraulic steering seal caps only use two pins making it easier to line up the pins when fabricating the tool.

Trying not to spend too much on a tool I’ll use once or twice. It’s kind of my pet peeve. Been pretty successful avoiding that canundrum most of my life.
contender, thanks for the advice. I might just try that.

that tool is worth every bit of $80, they make nice stuff

Made one for my old OMC 2-Smoker out of an old lawn mower blade. Turns out those blades are surprisingly hard and tough. Cut through center hole. Drill holes for studs and tap. Run two bolts through the studs. Was quicker than going to the store.

That having been said. If there is a local guy making these things, and you have the money, spend the money on a local business.

I went to Marine Tech today and bought one. If anyone wants to borrow it, I’d rather see it used than sitting in my drawer. Cheers!
