Yamaha 200hp ox66 ser II 2001yr

Was wondering if anyone out there has a similar set up as me and what kind of performance and milage do you get?? I just bought the boat, 2220cc key west, runs about 30mph@ 4000 and about 40@ 5000 which is wide open. Is this average? Anything I can do to increase my performance?

what prop are you running and how’s your hole shot? You should be able to get 5500 rpm out of that motor. Your mph sounds about right for the rpm you’re turning. Maybe you need to experiment with the trim a little or maybe it’s the prop.

Thx for the reply; not really sure on the prop; all I see on it is 17-M; I think my holeshots are kinda sluggish; not an expert though

You should be turning higher rpm on that 17P. </font id=“blue”>

you might want to get it serviced. VST screen, o2 sensor, racor, injectors, low pressure fuel pumps…any one or all of those things could be the culprit.

I’ve got a 2002, 250HP OX66 on the back of my boat. At 5000 RPM, I get to about 40, depending on the weight of my boat. Such as today, I had four full grown guys, and three kids, plus 3/4 a tank of gas. At 5000 RPM, I was seeing like 32 to 35 mph on the GPS. When I go out with just my two small boys, I’ve seen 40+ at 5000 RPM.

sirecks–is your max rpm 5000? I cruise @ 4000. My boat was owned by a fellow who kept it at hanckel marine and always had it serviced by them. I dont think its a service issue? wstrickland1-- gonna try to work on my trim tab skills, never had them before;does the motor stay trimmed down all the time and i use the tabs; how is it best to holeshot?

reelscape you say 17p, its a 17m, whats the difference and what does that mean? 17" diameter ?

17 is pitch or angle of blades. “M” is stainless steel. The complete dia./pitch (13 3/4" x 17) is cast into the inner hub flange. Could be on either end. The fuel filter/pump etc. info is right on. These motors eat (a)low pressure pump(s) about once a year. </font id=“blue”>

not necessarily your trim tabs, unless you have them down all the time. I was referring to the engine trim. Keep it tucked in (down) when taking off and bump it up after you plane. It’s something you’ll have to experiment with. You may be able to turn 5400 or better rpm and just don’t know it but I am telling you with absolute certainty that your motor needs to be serviced now or soon. It’s just the nature of that engine. The last thing you want to do is run the heck out of it if it’s running lean. Take care of it and it will run forever.
