Yamaha 4 stroke poor idling?

has any yamaha 4 stroke owner had any problems with poor idling? becoming aggravating…also when running fast and slow down fast to idle, engine will shut off.

anybody got any ideas?

I’ve got the exact same issue. My will fire right back up with no hesitation after it shuts off. All this being said I haven’t fixed it or been able to find the problem. I hope someone can help us out.

see it daily
usually involves dirty fuel system

something we are seeing more than ever, is a slime coating the inside of the filters. you can only see it, if you cut the filters open.

the filters on the bottom of your fuel injection pumps will hold this slime, and cause a fuel restriction

I’m now at www.teamcharlestonmarine.com

Ethanol gas again, dissolving varnish into slime, me too.

“The big one’s still swimming, let’s go.”

what is the solution?

I bet a trip to the mechanic. Anybody want to give any positive references for mechanics in Columbia. My buddies have tried two mechanics in my area with their boats (not naming names)and the results have been far from positive.

I had the same idling issues with my brand new F115 and a local shop fixed it. My receipt said “adjusted throttle plates”. I also found the sludge Chris V is talking about in my filter however a filter change didn’t fix my idling problem. Anyway, hope this helps.

finnaddict i had the same kind of problems thus weekend if you seemy new post.mine wouldnt be in full throttle but moving slow.then it would pick up gradually and then idle down slowly while in full throttle.i see everyone is having motor problems.i wonder if its this gas?

What idiot thought screwing with the gas would save anyone money.it just made money for the Gas companies and problems for the user. Ethanol who’s brain child was that?:dizzy_face::dizzy_face:

And now the government wants to push for e-15 and make it worse!

Try adding Stabil to every tank of fuel in accordance with directions - we’ve used it with all 4 strokes we’ve ever owned and have had no problems in those areas. I pay all the boat service bills, so I know!

yelp stabil works i heard.guy at work motor was doing the same thing and he flush all the old gas out and put new pure gas in and added stabil and he said he havnt had any problems since then and its running way smoother.so i just flush all my gas out and clean out fuel injector and filters and adding new gas and stabil tomorrow.
