Tried to drop my lower unit to replace the impeller but it will only go about half an inch. Any thoughts?
Get a couple of die bars and try to persuade it off.You Tube video.

3 hours of beating stacked 2x4s with a rubber mallet finally got it done.
Would have been really easy if the shaft had not stuck.

Haha ,how did the impeller look? I changed one out on my Yamaha 70 and it was fine.Good job and I wish I could have been there.
Impeller looked good. Nice to know it is an “easy” fix.
Greased the spline so hopefully next time is a little more user friendly.

Little update, motor would not pee so I dropped it again.
Impeller that was supposed to fit 40hp shaft is too big and kept slipping off the key.
Only Yamaha certified parts from now on.
