I have a 2006 Yamaha 150 four stroke, with the 704 control box. Whenever I get over 1/4 throttle I have to hold it in place with my hand, or it will drop back down towards neutral. I researched and found out where the tension screw is located. As seen below, mine has the plug access on the bottom of the box. I tried turning the screw but it won’t budge. I didn’t want to try too hard for fear of messing something up. First of all, is the screw in the middle the tension screw? If so, is there anything I can do to get it to turn? thanks in advance for any help offered!

Looks really corroded. Spray with pb blaster. For a couple days. May use a soldering iron on the screw, to help the pb penetrate. If you wring jt you are screwed. Good luck

Clean that salt and corrosion out with a dental pick before you do the above.

IMO without actually seeing it. Might want to consider “if possible”
to remove throttle lever unit( whole )to work on it and not damage
threads and to soak threads with a good penetrating oil inverted.

Sounds like I should just suck it up and hold the throttle like I’ve been doing for the past 2 years I’ve owned the boat. Just out of curiosity, what would happen if I tried to free it up and it broke? Thanks again as always for the help!
