I have a 2-Stroke Yamaha and my alarm goes off randomly and the rpm reduction kicks in. It went from once every couple of trips to now once every 5 minutes in the last two months. Motor has a new water pump and fuel/oil pump as well. Motor is peeing cool water and both oil reserves have oil. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Do you have any icons on your gages? What HP motor?
It is a 115. I have the multi-function yamaha guages and the lithium in the guages is shot and I can’t read them.

with that motor, its either oil or temp causing the issue
just because the water coming out the pee hole is cold doesnt mean the water in the engine is cold
you need to take the motors tempature with a laser thermometer, and stop using the motor until you get this fixed. if its overheating like I suspect, you are going to do permanant damage.
the yamaha 2 stroke 115-130’s in the late 90’s vintage get a buildup of sludge in the cooling passages around the head, and the water wont circulate. the haeds have to come off, be cleaned, and put back on.
