Yamaha carb question

While fishing in July my 115 Yamaha wouldn’t go above around 3000rpms but ran fine otherwise. I have had this problem on and off since I bought 4 years ago yada yada yada. So I bought the service manual and 2 carb rebuild kits and cleaned he carbs. I took it out twice this week and is running great.

When disassembling the carbs I found the pilot screws set at 1.5 turns out. According to my service manual the screws should be set at 5/8 turn out. When I put the carbs back on I kept the settings they were at. I have always thought my motor ran pretty smokey I just figured at least it was getting lubed. But now I’m wondering if it is because of the pilot screw settings and I’m wondering if I should change the settings to the factory setting. The motor is idling where it should be and runs pretty well. I don’t have a ton of experience with 2 strokes anybody have any opinions on this?

BY OPENING UP THE IDLE AIR MIXTURE SCREWS YOU ARE MAKING THE MOTOR RUN RICH, IT WILL IDLE ROUGHER, FOUL PLUGS SOONER AND SMOKE MORE AT IDLE
WE SET THEM ACCORDING TO THE FACTORY REQUIREMENTS, THEN IF IT DOESNT RUN PROPERLY, WE WORK FROM THERE
