I just got an offer in the mail to extend the warranty on my Yamaha F250 for up to 3 more years. The motor came with a 3 year warranty standard.
The cost is steep with an additional 3 years costing $2,700. I do run the boat often and hard.
I know it is just an opinion, but what is yours? Good deal or a deal for a sucker?
by the way, anyone with a spare crystal ball, how about see if I am going to have a major breakdown or not, that would really make this decision much easier

Warranty companies make a lot of money because most people lose the gamble and buy the warranty and never need it. Is piece of mind worth $2700? Because that may be all you get with the money.
I feel, if you make it through three years with no problems then you are probably good to go and I wouldn’t do it but it’s always a gamble.

Make sure you get your trim seals replaced under the original warranty. Dont think its covered under the YES and if youve had for three years get them checked out as it gets expensive quick
I believe you can shop that around too. My extended warranty started at $1200 and i ended up getting it from Lowcountry marine in walterboro for $800. I think its worth looking into. Give Ronnie a call at 843-549-1234

if you need it, its well worth it, if not, it was a waste of money, its just like any other insurance.
what happens if 3 years from now, you blow a powerhead, or a lower unit. you will wish you had spent the money.

I bought the extended warranty on my yamaha 225. To make a long story short, I lost 2 fuel pumps in two years. They were 900+ each. It ended up being water in the gas through a hole in the gas tank but the warranty paid both times. Well worth the cost. Shop around though. I paid 1000 for a five year warrenty.
