I’m having problems with my '04 Yamaha F115 tilt and trim. Trim seems to work fine going up or down, but when the engine gets to the “tilt” phase the tilt & trim motor runs and runs, I heard some sputtering, and the engine never goes all the way up. It will manage a little past the trim pistons, but that’s about it. Battery is good - engine cranks fine, and the tilt and trim motor runs…
I’m guessing it’s a hydraulic issue? I took the cap off what I assume is the fluid reservoir - a plastic screw on cap w/ a philips head insert on it… but it’s tough to see anything in there. Is that where you check and fill the fluid?
Thanks Chris. Do you have to manually raise the engine? It’s up enough right now to access the fill point, but still resting on the piston.
I tried manually lifting the engine, but couldn’t turn the release screw. Do you have to relieve the pressure on the piston to turn the manual release screw?
if you dont raise the motor completely, you cant get teh proper fluid level.
you do not have to relieve the pressure
try having someone push the up button, while you lift the motor by hand
