$20 fix… Temp wiring…
DRMajor
It fits where the factory pump did…just shorter.
It also has a pressure shut off.

based on condition of pump, I would strongly suggest pulling the VST, and replacing the filter inside the VST, and have someone clean the injectors.
As a Yamaha Technician, I can not approve of your repair, but as just some guy on the internet, your solution should work perfectly
Not only are you generous in your helping “shade tree mechanics”…you quite the diplomat.
Pulled VST after all was done, just to be sure. It was fine.
Have a neighbor with Yam parts. If he has pump, will replace with Yam pump.
However, my son took it out and ran it for about an hour, a lot at max speed. No problems.
The pressure relief works very well.
Sounds like the pick-up strainer in the tank may be fouled with debris. remove it to check the screen or simply blow back in the tank to clear by blowing in the line on tank side of the first filter/seperator. I would check it first, then secondly has the strainer on the outlet line from the VST tank to the injectors been replaced? I have had these issues with two different boats, one on 225hp, the second on a HpDi 150, both yamahas. Hope this helps!
