Yamaha Motors

Is there any marine stores that take in used Yamaha motors by chance? I’m looking at re powering my boat from a 50hp to a 70hp. Not looking for a new engine. Thanks in advance.

If you have a two stroke three cylinder Yamaha it is worth some good money

I do. not sure what mine is worth but I like it. Just want a little more power.

Do some research. I had an 01 40 that was getting offers around 2750.00. I didn’t want to separate it from the boat but was really surprised at the amount of interest. The forty and the fifty are essentially the same motor with different carb kits.

Cool. Thanks for the info

These 2 strokes are hard to find for a reasonable price nowadays…

What you want for the 50? Length shaft??

I’ll have to do some research to get a value. I’ve seen them priced between $4000 and $4500.

Just had a buddy sell his 04 90hp Yamaha with a mind blowing amount of hours for $3500.00 don’t think you will get $4000.00 to $4500.00 for a used motor that cost that much new. I have seen the 40’s and 50’s going for around $2500.00 to $3000.00 range . Marine Svc Center in Murrells Inlet just took my 04 115hp Yamaha 2 stroke in on trade $2500.00 could have gotten more on a strait out sell but I went that way .

a year ago i found a 2003 yamaha 40 2-stroke 3-cyl long shaft for $2800. had to get a tiller handle kit $700. motor had less than 100hrs on it… all the paint was on the skeg so, pretty much brand new. was just at the right place at the right time. i had also been looking for about a year and had a lot of feelers out. I’d say there are still some out there but, they are not getting any easier to find.
