Yamaha New 200hp and New 150 SHO model

Any opinions about the new motor models? I have the F150 and it is bullet proof. I am looking at getting a new boat. Right now Yamaha is offering the extended warranty. Should I be worried about the new model motors or should I stick with the tried a true F150?

the new 200 uses the same 150 block and basics, and it uses variable valve timing to create some extra horsepower

Thanks Chris. I want to make sure both the new motors would the as dependable as the F150?

I like the new 200 but that is based only on what I’ve read on paper. It is about the same weight as the 150 and same physical dimensions. I’d love to try two of those on for size and see how she moves.
And yes, the f150 is bullet proof. It’s been an epic motor and I couldn’t ask for better… Except maybe an F200.

Obviously my idea of dependability differs from others.

Chris; What is your take on the Yamaha F70 VS F90? I am going to buy a new boat and am not sure about the motor I want!

My $.02…have been using the F150 for the last 5 years on a 2200 Pathfinder. If the 6 cyclinder 200 was available back then, that’s what I would have gone with…the extra 50hp on the hole shot makes a difference when you have 4 people plus yourself in the boat. The F150 is a bit slugish out of the hole but once up I get great gas mileage. Other than that I am completely satisfied with the F150. No mechanical problems whatsoever…knock on wood!
