Has anyone had their outboard engine connected to their GPS system thur the NMEA 2000 network? If so what do I need to buy? I have the new Yamaha 200hp in line four from 2014 and would like to connect to a Garmin.
There are a ton of topics in this on the hull truth. Take a look
Thanks,

is it a mechanical shift or fly by wire motor? and what gauges do you have?
I have analog gauges and mechanical shift cable. I would like to see fuel consumption and monitor how much gas I’ve burned and have left. I have considered buying the Garmin GFS10 Fuel Sensor. I was wondering if it was reasonable in price to have the whole set up and get all the engine info.
Need the network, and engine cable. Flow sensor not needed. You’ll have to research your part #s but its fairly easy once your network is in place.

you can get all the engine info on the GPS
we just need to build a command link network first.
since you have analog gauges and mechanical shift, its gonna cost way more than $100
more like about $650 in parts
Thanks for the info Chris. Would it be cheaper to install a Yamaha digital gauge? You did great job rebuilding my 70 Yamaha last fall.
probably about the same cost, but installing the network would allow for any future upgrades
