Yamaha Pitot? speedo pickup ?

So my speedo tube that runs down into the motor is cut. (from dropping the lower unit) I have googled it and only come up with it being called the pitot tube. Is this the part I need to ask for at the dealership to replace? Do I have to take the foot off again to hook it back up? Is it doing any harm being disconnected? i am trying to get my tach, speedo, and fuel gauges all working.

I think the fuel sender just needs to be replaced and the tach is showing like 7k rpms at idle and bounces all around in that range. (which i know is not correct) Motor is a 2001 90 yamamha 2 strk. Any advice would be much appreciated.

speedo works from a small hole in the leading edge of the lower unit
can you see where it is cut?
if so, go to an auto parts store and get a tubing splice. they usually sell them for vacuum line repair.
nothing bad will happen if it is disconnected.
