Yamaha SX150 Trim Stuck

I have a 2000 Yamaha OX 66 Saltater Series 150 HP that is acting up. The motor automatically trimmed up while it was stored. My wife actually saw it trim up as she was walking past the boat. The trim has not shown any issues up until ths point. When I press the trim button down on the outboard all I hear is a click. It will not go down. Same thing happens when I press the trim button on the throttle. I have heard that it might be the trim relay but not sure. Any ideas? Thanks!

If it trimmed up on its own – it may have killed the battery. It wouldnt have known when it reached the top and would have just run the trim motor until the battery couldnt do it anymore.

owned by trailer bearings…

It trimmed up about 5 minutes before I got home since my wife just happened to walk by while it went up on its own. I have switched the batteries off.

Okay, I just went out to check it and it worked fine. Up and down with no problem. I can understand the trim relay going bad but have never seen an engine trim up without touching the switch. Weird.

I just wish he would cut my grass!

could be a relay, or a bad switch

I’m now at www.teamcharlestonmarine.com

my thought also is the relay if you hear a clicking noise then you should be able to pull it out and get it checked not a hard fix
