I’ve got a 2008 4 stroke yammie with the old 703 control box and no instruments. I’d like to add one of the new digital tachs with the hour meter and trim indicator but the plug connectors don’t match. Is that as easy as splicing wires or do I need a whole new 704 control box?

Thanks, probably the best thing would be for me to bring it by your shop and let you take a look at it. The existing box has two groups of about 4 wires each that go nowhere, they have butt connectors on the ends. I would assume one group would normally go to the engine and one to the gages, which means that I might not even have an existing harness from the motor to the control box, other than the ignition switch hookup. I’m guessing the old style box is made for carbureted engines with a choke and the newer box is made for EFI motors?
