A friend of my son who fishes out of Savannah told him that they were beginning to see the yellowfin move back in down there. Some of the veteran Captains say they have historically come in 10 year cycles and it seems like it has been about that long since they started to disappear by my recollection, at least up here. I would think if there was any truth to it, the same sort of cycle would apply here, or at least in the southern area of the SC where I fish. Any of you more experienced fishermen heard anything like this. I would love for it to be true but am skeptical.

One thing is for sure. We will know the deal soon.
Thanks for sharing, that is interesting. Eating tuna right off the cleaning table seems like a distant memory.

Trouble is, they should have come through here starting in early march, with the peak right about now. I think it is safe to say that it is another bust year on YFT’s

I know of three that were caught this year two at bubble rock and one off the g town hole… Def not here like they used to be. There is no reason why they shouldn’t be here though when I went out two weeks ago it was the most bait that I have ever seen.

Our best catches out of Murrells Inlet were always early May, with it petering out by the end of May.
After reading that article. Maybe I miss understood it, but do yall think maybe there are more yellow fins on the far side of the gulf stream and we all stop short of it to troll and fish always? Like within running distance on a calm day with lots of fuel!!!

Thats the plan if we can get a good glassy weekend soon
How far of a run yall think that is from McClellanville this time of year in miles?
around 130 nautical miles
Better bring lots of gas food and beer that is a long way, but on a glassy day @ 50+ mph shouldn’t be to bad!
